Professional photographer in the nautical environment since 1987, Thierry Martinez acquired along the years and different great project to which he cooperated an experience and a savoir faire based on his passions: sailing and photo.
Born in Grenoble in 1955, Thierry first lives in the area of Lyon . Formed as a technician, he started his professional life with the telephonic operator France Telecom, where he worked during light years. At the creation of the enterprise communication service, he changes his orientation and starts to work as a photographer , more particularly interested in sports and action photo.
This is how he naturally becomes the appointed photographer of the French Project “La Poste” enrolled in the race around the world “ Whibread” 1989/90 and starts at the top realizing the sailing races features.
He covered since most great international sailing events, keeping resolutely on international aspect dealing with this environment?
Still faithful to the Whitbread become Volvo Ocean Race (he entirely covered the fire last editions and especially with the EF Team Victorious in 2006-2006. He also worked on the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996 with the Vandystadt All Sport Agency) The Admiral’s Cup, la Solitaire du Figaro, the Kenwood Cup (Hawaii) Th Archipellago Raid (Sweden) The Route du Rhum, The Bol d’Or, Around Alone or The Vendee Globe.
In 2001, Thierry ‘s career takes another turn when he becomes the official photographer of the team Alunghi (Switzerland), which wins the America’s Cup in 2003 in Auckland, job he still has with this team who will defend its title in Valencia in 2007.
Beside the shots which leas him all around the world, Thierry created in South Brittany where he now lives, a photo software on line for his pictures publishing. He proposes this service to his customers to help them to improve the publishing of their photographic library for themselves or for the media.
More interested in the sportsmen themselves than in their boats, he nevertheless likes photographing in extreme conditions. Thierry also contributed to the image of a great number of French or foreign sailors, for instance Laurent Bourgnon , Micherl Desjoyeaux or Ellen Mac Arthur.
His Respect for sportswear and serious ness he brings in his pictures realization owe him a great esteem from the whole international sailing community.
