French Photographer, Franck Socha looks at the sea in two ways: romantic and sportive. He admits: “I can sometimes stay hours on the beach, mesmerized by the magic mecanism of the waves. All the nature forces fascine me: wind; snow, rain, lightings, storms.
Franck discovers windsurf on a beach in Picardie of the age of eleven. Since then, this eager robust sailor never ceases practising. Wherever he is, he always has his board within reach, to watch the best surf spot. His passion and his love for this sport help him to find the best technical position in the shots of surfers or kitesurfers in full action.
Born in 1969 (November) in Amiens, in Northern France, Franck tries every kind of sport in his youth, like ice-hockey, handball, football, windsurf, boogie-board and snowboard which he will teach in the French Alps. He also is a bright stuntman.
But Franck was looking for even more exhilarating things. “During these sport meetings, I discovered photography and then I left my teaching studies and I bought a camera”.
After several years of meticulous work in studio where he deals many subjects from fashion to pack shot though advertising, he choose, in 1997, the press photography, joining the worldwide known agency, the agency Gamma.
The America’s Cup 2000 is for Franck the first coven of an important event for the agency gamma. During this 6 months long mission, Sir Peter Blake, well know for his intuition and his ability to detect human qualities, notices very quickly Franck‘s particular personality. In 2001, Peter Blake invites Franck to join him and his team on board of “Seamaster” for an expedition in Amazonia.
In September 2003, he becomes the official photographer of the Louis Vuitton Cup, and joins the K-Challenge team as exclusive photographer for the 32nd America’s Cup in 2007. During these last two years, he is the author of different features about kitesurf, and about his first navigation to the Easter Island.
Franck‘s style is different from his peers’. He is always searching the stunning picture. Franck carefully watches and slows down the release until he is entirely satisfied. He likes being in perfect harmony with action, maybe because he is a music lover. “Music is so just a hobby” I can’t live without it. It helps me to live” Franck also worked for label Bleu; a record firm specialized in Jazz and world Music”.
